The Rowlett Eagles scored a run in the fifth and another in the sixth to edge Robert E. Lee 2-1 Monday afternoon in a District 11-6A baseball game in Rowlett.
Rowlett's Will Norris went the distance, allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts. Lee's Garrett Hudson was equally as impressive in a loss, giving up two runs on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
The Eagles snapped a scoreless pitcher's duel in the bottom of the fifth, thanks to a walk, two stolen bases and a sacrifice fly.
Rowlett made it 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth with the run coming home on a one-out infield single.
Lee got one back in its last at-bat after Hudson led off with a single and went to third on a double by Nick Goodwin. A fielder's choice groundout by Marc Schwartz scored Hudson.
But with one out and Goodwin still on second base, REL was unable to drive him in. Norris got Lee's next two batters to fly out and ground out to end the game.
"Rowlett is a good baseball team and anytime you go up there, you have your work cut out for you," Lee coach David Howard said. "It was a good game; well-played by both teams. They were able to get a hit in a big situation and we weren't able to get one."
The Red Raiders return to Garland on Tuesday to face Lakeview Centennial at 7 p.m. at Lakeview H.S.
