Robert E. Lee's Erin Brinkley is going to be a Lady Mulerider.

Brinkley signed a scholarship letter of intent to play basketball at Southern Arkansas University. Brinkley made her choice official on Monday at the Suddenlink Communications Field House on the Lee High School campus.

Brinkley emerged last year for the Lady Raiders and the 6-0 senior forward already has made her presence felt with double-digit scoring in REL's season opener win against Whitehouse and a 27-point outing in a win over Lubbock Estacado.

Her family and friends joined her to commemorate the moment. Brinkley is receiving a partial athletic scholarship and academic scholarship.

In her personal statement on ncsasports.org, Brinkley said, "It has always been my dream to play college ball one day. I also want to succeed academically to ensure that if my basketball career doesn't work out, then I have something to fall back on."

Brinkley will join a Lady Mulerider team next year that has a new head coach. Julio Pacheco takes over a Southern Arkansas team that is preseason picked to finish 11th in the Great American Conference.
