Robert E. Lee home game vs. Naaman Forest postponed to Friday

Robert E. Lee's football game against Garland Naaman Forest scheduled for tonight ha been postponed to Friday, according to a release from the Tyler ISD Athletic Director Greg Priest. It will now kick off at 7 p.m. Friday at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium. It will be "Senior Night" in which all of the REL senior will be recognized before the game.

The Red Raiders (4-5, 3-3) were scheduled to face Naaman Forest at 7 p.m., but because of the threat of inclement weather Thursday, made the decision Wednesday evening to postpone the game to Friday.

This move was made to avoid postponing it after Naaman Forest arrived. District 11-6A has a rule that a team cannot travel to Tyler on consecutive days if there is a postponement, according to Tyler ISD Superintendent Marty Crawford.

Lee has already lost one home game because of this rule. Two weeks ago, the Red Raiders were forced to postpone their homecoming game against North Garland because of rain and lightning. The district rule then forced REL to play its "home" game on the road at Garland the next day.

Naaaman Forest is winless in District 11-6A.

The Red Raiders must defat NF and have Rockwall beat Garland and Sachse deafeat Rowlett for REL to make the playoffs.
