EMORY — Statistics sometimes lie.

That is the lesson the Rains Wildcats learned defeating the Sabine Cardinals 18-7 in a non-district game Friday.

Despite putting up only 112 yards of offense to Sabine’s 185 plus losing three of six fumbles, the Wildcats (1-2) did just enough to win.

Rains got on the scoreboard first, taking a 6-0 lead in the first on a 14-yard run by Dustin Fry.

Sabine (0-3) climbed into the lead, 7-6, late in the quarter on a 1-yard run by Bryan Chumley.

The Wildcats took the lead for good in the second quarter when Fry scored on a 22-yard carry. The second missed conversion of the game for Rains made the score 12-7.

Fry lead all rushers in the game with 114 yards on 16 carries.

Rains added an insurance touchdown in the third quarter on a 1-yard run by John Hines.
