MESQUITE — The Longview Lobos stormed past Mesquite, 54-21, Friday night in a District 11-5A opener at Hanby Stadium.

The No. 9 Lobos (5-1, 1-0) built a 40-0 lead and scored seven touchdowns on their first eight drives. Longview rolled up 566 yards of offense, including 351 yards rushing and six touchdowns.

Tory White had 100 yards and J’Haston Faggans added 64 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Bivins Caraway accounted for 220 yards and three touchdowns in about two quarters of play.

The Lobos overwhelmed Mesquite (3-3, 0-1) in the first half as the Lobos scored touchdowns on their first six drives.

The Lobos took the opening drive 80 yards and capped it with a 38-yard touchdown run by fullback Deontre Wilson with 10:20 left in the first quarter. The Lobos marched 87 yards on their second drive, ending with a 3-yard touchdown run by Faggans.
