John Tyler senior Mashaud Moore scored 30 points in his final high school game but it wasn't enough as North Mesquite won 70-65 on Tuesday at the Lions Den.

Jerry Carraway scored 14 and Fred Pope added 10 for the Stallions (12-16, 6-8 District 11-6A), who finished a game ahead of the Lions (11-17, 5-9) in the final standings.

John Tyler had six seniors playing their final game: Moore, Gerald Berry Jr. (11 points), Christerpher Lyles (eight), Kadavion Key (10), Demontae Johnson (two) and Keldrick Stinnette (two).

Moore might have scored even more had he not been slowed by an ankle injury in the fourth.

"He played extremely hard," JT coach Cedeno Clark said of Moore. "That says a lot about the type of kid he is finishing up his senior year with 30 points. He didn't want to lose."
