AUSTIN — Five East Texas schools, including Mineola and Henderson, will be competing in the UIL Softball State Tournament this week in Austin.

East Texas has two teams in Class 1A — Ivanhoe Sam Rayburn and Garrison; one in Class 2A — Mineola; and two in Class 3A — Henderson and Lufkin Hudson.

All games are scheduled for Red & Charline McCombs Field on the campus of The University of Texas.

Mineola (32-1), fresh off winning the Region III championship by outscoring Linden-Kildare 35-1 in two wins, is scheduled to play Alpine (31-6) at 3 p.m. Wednesday in a 2A semifinal game.

The other 2A semifinal is slated for 6 p.m. Wednesday and pits Crawford (34-2) against Danbury (27-7).

The semifinal winners will meet in the championship game at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Danbury is the defending 2A champion.

The Class 1A semifinals are also scheduled for Wednesday. Sam Rayburn (24-1-1), which is located near the Red River just west of Paris, is slated to meet Petrolia (18-12) at 9 a.m., followed by Garrison (26-5-1) taking on Flatonia (28-5) at noon.

The semifinal winners will play in the 1A championship at 3 p.m. Thursday.

The 3A teams get into action on Thursday.

Henderson (29-8) meets Liberty Hill (27-8) at noon in one semifinal, while the other matchup has Lufkin Hudson (34-5) taking on West (29-9) at 9 a.m.

The 3A championship game is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Class 4A and 5A semifinals are set for Friday.

The 4A semifinals have Montgomery (33-6) meeting Forney (32-7-2) at 8 a.m., followed by Spring Branch Smithson Valley (28-6) taking on Waco Midway (34-8) at noon.

The 5A semifinals are set for 3 p.m. — Plano East (35-3) vs. Klein Collins (30-4); and 6 p.m. — San Antonio O’Connor (31-2) vs. Deer Park (29-8).

The championship games are slated for Saturday.

The 4A title game is scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by the 5A championship at 4 p.m.

Student, adult and children (2 years and older) tickets may be purchased at the gate. Children under 2 are free. Adult tickets are $10 per session, students are $5 per session and coaches’ all-tournament tickets are $45.

All tournament tickets for the general public are $85. The ticket window (on Comal Street) will open one hour prior to the first game. Pre-sale tickets are not available.
