MALAKOFF - No. 3-ranked Malakoff had no trouble disposing of the Palestine Westwood Panthers in front of an overflow homecoming crowd Friday night, rolling to a 46-14 victory.
The Tigers ran their season record to 7-0 and improved to 4-0 in District 9-3A, Division 1. Westwood fell to 1-6 and 0-4 marks.
It was another big night for Tiger junior quarterback Judd Miller, who only played one series into the second half with the Tigers comfortably in a 46-0 lead. Miller completed 13-of-18 passes for 315 yards and six touchdowns.
Miller’s favorite target was senior wide receiver Tyler Russell. Russell caught five passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns, including a 48-yarder on the game’s first play. Russell pulled in a 61-yard scoring strike with 8:10 left in the second quarter, which gave the Tigers a 33-0 lead.
Q.T. Barker also caught a pair of touchdown passes (11 and 43 yards).
ShaZarrion Bailey nabbed Miller’s other scoring aerial from 38 yards out just before the first quarter ended. Bailely also had a one-yard scoring run.
Westwood tacked on a pair of touchdowns late in the game on a one-yard Daniel Deleon run and J.D. Lewis five-yard run.
Malakoff goes to West next week. Westwood is at home against Eustace.
