ATHENS — The John Tyler boys soccer team moved into sole possession of first place in District 31-4A with a 3-1 overtime win against Athens on Friday night.
The Lions improved to 13-4-1 overall and 8-1 in district.
JT trailed 1-0 in the second half before Jose Arroyo evened things with six minutes left.
Naid Dineda, who assisted the first goal, scored on a corner kick from Porfirio Benitez to break the tie in overtime.
Abner Barrera added the third goal.
JT’s junior varsity beat Athens 5-0 to move to 6-2 in district.
The Lions were led by Jose Perez (two goals) and goals by Luis Duran, Ernesto Hernandez and Francisco Villela.
