ALLEN — Lindale advanced to state in two events at the Class 3A Region II Tennis Championships on Thursday at the Eagles Landing Tennis Center.
Laird Beaty took second in boys singles and Ryan Hosid and Ryan Gambrell were runner-ups in boys doubles.
Beaty beat Lucas Lovejoy’s Oliver Brewer, 6-2, 6-3, in the semifinal and fell to Lovejoy’s Alex Brown, 6-1, 6-2, in the championship match.
Hosid and Gambrell beat Lovejoy’s Logan Stevens and Jacob Hagedom, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4), in the semifinals and fell to Whitesboro’s Jamison Burch and Anthony Burch, 7-6 (4), 6-2, in the final.
The Whitesboro duo outlasted Van’s Tym Clark and Landon Jett, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, in the semifinals.
Lovejoy’s Anna Dickens and Anna Reyna defeated Lindale’s Hannah Clemmons and Courtney Johnson, 6-3, 6-1, in the girls doubles semifinals. Clemmons and Johnson then fell in the third-place match.
Lovejoy’s Samantha Wendt and Kenny Sweeney beat Van’s Kara Chitty and Zach Whitus in the mixed doubles semifinals.
Both Van squads dropped their third-place matches.
The state tournament is April 30-May 1 at the University of Texas’ Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin.
Wills Point’s Kayla Jacks almost earned a berth in girls doubles, but fell 7-5, 6-3 to Whitesboro’s Camden Rodriguez in a playback match.
