MESQUITE — Robert E. Lee ended its scoring drought, but not its losing streak as the Lady Raiders fell 4-1 to Mesquite Horn on Friday at E.H. Hanby Stadium.

The loss keeps REL (7-8 overall) winless in District 12-5A (0-3) while the Jaguars (2-0, 6 pts) remain unbeaten in league play.

“We are still looking for players who can combine with other players, run at people and score goals,” Lee coach Chris Woodard said. “We made some silly mistakes on a couple of the goals tonight, but it’s hard to get on to the back players because they’ve played pretty well.

“We had some chances. We got behind the defense a few times and didn’t score and that is what has been hurting us.”

Lee trailed 1-0 at halftime, but looked to have equalized early in the second half, only for the referee’s flag to nullify the goal because of offside.

The Jaguars then scored twice to make it 3-0 before Lee senior Julia Harrison pulled one back for the Lady Raiders when she converted a penalty kick.

Lee aims to get its first district points on Tuesday against Mesquite.
