Kilgore stops Chapel Hill

NEW CHAPEL HILL - Patrick Jackson had a big night running and passing the ball, Elivan Torres booted five field goals, and the Kilgore Bulldogs moved to 2-0 in district play with a convincing 36-7 win over the Chapel Hill Bulldogs on Friday.

Jackson completed 9 of 14 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown and also rushed 23 times for 172 yards and a score.

Torres went 5 for 5 on field goal attempts, booting three-pointers from 43, 30, 38, 41 and 41 yards away.

Jackson scored on a 25-yard run for Kilgore, and tossed a 64-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Shepherd - who finished with four grabs for 100 yards.

Deiontrae Wheat had four catches for 14 yards for Kilgore, and Melek Hamilton added 17 carries for 24 yards. Collin Pippen caught one pass for 16 yards, and Cole Wood had one catch for two yards.

For Chapel Hill, Billy Maddox passed for 60 yards, but was picked off twice by Kilgore’s Jerrick Erving.

Andrian Miner rushed for 73 yards on 15 carries.

Kilgore finished the night with 132 passing yards and 228 rushing yards. Chapel Hill rushed for 143 yards and passed for 60 yards.

Kilgore (3-3, 2-0) will host Carthage on Friday. Chapel Hill (1-5, 0-2) will visit Center.
