NEW BOSTON — Shakeem Jefferson rushed for 222 yards and two touchdowns as the Class 2A No. 8 New Boston Lions scored a 28-7 win over Spring Hill at Lion Stadium.

The Lions (3-1) took a 21-0 lead into the half, outgaining the Panthers 230-21 in total yards through two quarters. The Panthers (1-3) returned the favor in the second half, posting 165 total yards and holding the Lions to 49.

Jefferson had touchdown runs of 75 and 20 in the first half to lead the Lions. Damien Haskins had 22 yards on the ground and returned an interception for a touchdown. Quarterback Mason Thomas went 3 for 5 for 28 yards and a touchdown strike Scott Brooks for New Boston.

Ben Hollas led the way for the Panthers, rushing for 96 yards total, 95 of which came in the second half. Hollas posted the Panthers’ only touchdown on a 14-yard carry. Matt Ballard had two catches for 38 yards.

Spring Hill returns home Friday to host Van while New Boston takes on Hughes Springs at home.
