LONGVIEW — It didn’t take long for No. 3 Henderson to make its presence known in District 16-3A Friday night.

In fact, it took only 18 seconds.

With Patrick Brown taking the opening kickoff back 97 yards, the Lions went on to shut out the Spring Hill Panthers, 52-0, on Friday night at Panther Stadium as both teams opened District 16-3A play.

While Brown set the tempo out of the gate, it was Del Barnes taking over from there, throwing for 269 yards and four touchdowns. Barnes was 12-for-13 and had touchdown strikes of 63, 58, 43 and 14 yards to lead the Lions, who moved to 6-0 on the season and 1-0 in district play. Spring Hill fell to 1-5 and 0-1 in 16-3A.

Brown made his presence felt on defense as well, intercepting two Panther passes, one of which he returned 58 yards, ultimately setting up a Lion touchdown.

Both teams continue district play next week with Spring Hill visiting Gladewater and Henderson hosting Pittsburg.
