HARMONY — Matt Hosea scored on a 2-yard touchdown run with 47 seconds remaining to give Harmony a 16-13 upset win over fifth-ranked Tatum on Friday at Eagle Stadium.
It was the District 9-2A Division I opener for both teams with Harmony now 5-1 (1-0) and Tatum 4-2 (0-1).
Trailing 13-7 with time running out, Harmony quarterback Wesley Schoon connected on a 48-yard pass play to Lucas Askew. This put Harmony down inside the 5 and Hosea did the rest. The teams were scoreless at halftime as Tatum’s offense struggled without its top offensive player, Jalen Overstreet, who did not play.
Harmony opened the score late in the third quarter on a 1-yard Hosea scoring run following a 42-yard run from Levi Thompson.
Tatum answered with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Darian Brooks to Cark Whitaker. On the PAT, Thompson raced in and blocked the kick with Daven Murphree returning it the other way for a 2-point conversion and 9-6 lead.
