BROWNSBORO — The Gladewater Bears invaded Brownsboro’s homecoming Friday night and returned home with a 46-7 victory. Gladewater rushed for more than 600 yards in its third victory of the year.
Darion Gregory and Charles Gordon led Gladewater’s rushing attack throughout the night. Gregory finished with 220 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Gordon followed with 190 yards and two touchdowns.
Gladewater scored on its first possession after stopping Brownsboro on fourth and goal. Gregory set things up with a 66-yard run to the Brownsboro 21. The Bears moved inside the 10, and Gordon finished the drive with a two-yard score.
Brownsboro was forced to punt again on its next drive and Gladewater took over at their own 21. Quarterback Derrick Daniels scampered 47 yards on the second play of the drive to place the Bears 32 yards from another score. Gregory ran for 16 yards on the next play and later scored from nine yards away.
Brownsboro continued to struggle on offense and punted after three plays. Gladewater put a few balls in the air and moved into the red zone. Gregory scored his second touchdown on a pitch play to give the Bears a 20-0 lead at the half.
Gladewater received the ball to start the second half and scored on the 11th play of the drive. Gregory scored his third and final touchdown, this time from 11 yards.
The Bears scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter. Gordon broke away for a 65-yard score with 6:41 to play in the quarter. Marcus Adams, on his third carry of the game, ran 61 yards to extend Gladewater’s lead.
Brownsboro showed life in the fourth quarter and scored its lone touchdown of the game. Quarterback Shelby Rogers led the way and scored on an 11-yard run to put Brownsboro on the scoreboard.
Gladewater scored for the final time on the second play of the following drive on a 43-yard run by Adams. He finished with 122 yards on the ground.
Rogers led Brownsboro with 73 yards on the ground and 163 yard through the air. He completed 18 passes in the contest. KT Thompson caught nine of those passes for 64 yards.
Daniels completed five passes for 73 yards for Gladewater. He also ran for 81 yards on five carries.
Gladewater improved to 3-1 on the season, while Brownsboro dropped to 0-4.
