GRAND SALINE — Brandon Greene rushed for four long-distance touchdowns to lead the Winnsboro Red Raiders to a 55-12 mauling of the Grand Saline Indians in a District 7-2A, Division I game.
Winnsboro (6-2, 3-0) maintained a tie for the district lead with Melissa, a winner over Mineola. Greene lead the Red Raider onslaught scoring on touchdown runs of 22, 65, 90 and 74 yards.
Winnsboro took a 28-0 lead in the first quarter on Greene’s first two touchdowns, plus a 28-yard score by Dugan Winkle and a 12-yard touchdown run by Luke Tebbetts.
Grand Saline (5-3, 1-2) made it 28-6 in the second on a 68-yard scoring run by T.J. Ollison, only to have Tebbetts score again on a 22-yard run to put Winnsboro up 35-6 at halftime.
The Indians scored first in the second half on an 18-yard run by Shane Neal to make it 35-12.
The rest of the night belonged to Winnsboro as Greene scored twice again in the third quarter. Will Villalobos closed out the scoring for the Red Raiders in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard run.
