WINONA - Destiny Brooks hit a 3-pointer 10 seconds into the gameand the Gilmer Lady Buckeyes were off and running Friday night at the Winona High School gym.

Brooks scored 22 points, including six 3-pointers, as Gilmer scored a 58-33 victory over the Brownsboro Bearettes in a Class 4A area girls basketball playoff game.

No. 12 Gilmer (31-3) will now meet unbeaten and No. 5 Tatum (31-0) in the regional quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday back at Winona. The second game will pit the boys teams from Gilmer and Tatum in a bi-district game scheduled for 8 p.m.

Brownsboro ends its season at 25-10.

Belynda Ray added 18 points and seven rebounds for Gilmer, while Kyla Grant led the Lady Buckeyes with nine boards. Meshia Shead added five rebounds.

Tamaria Manning led the Bearettes with 16 points with McKenzie Smith adding seven points. Lindsay Edwards had nine rebounds and three steals with Ty Warren adding four boards.
