WHITEHOUSE — Offense came early for the Red team in the Fourth Annual FCA Heart of a Champion All-Star baseball game on Friday night.

The Red team scored 10 runs in the first three innings and never looked back on the way to a 15-5 victory over the Blue.

The game was played on the turf at Whitehouse High School after originally being scheduled for UT Tyler’s Irwin Field.

Blue actually led 1-0 with an RBI single by Hallsville’s Chase Amick to score White Oak’s Jacob Young.

The Red team then grabbed the lead for good in the bottom of the first inning. Brandon Quarles (Whitehouse) doubled, Brayden Johnson (Hallsville) singled and Judd McCall (Emory Rains) walked. Edgewood’s Jayden Morgan then emptied the bases with a three-run double to right.

The Red team put up seven runs in the bottom of the third inning. Three players were hit by pitches, and Grace Community’s Jace Rees had a two-run single in the frame. Quarles stole two of his three bases in the inning.

Blue added a run in the fourth inning with an RBI single by Lindale’s Cody Pike and two runs in the seventh with a two-run single by White Oak’s Collin Bower. Young had an RBI single in the ninth with two outs.

The Red team scored one run each in the sixth and seventh innings and three in the eighth inning. Judsen Truett (Grand Saline), Johnson, Philip Laprade (Grand Saline), Jayden Terres (All Saints) and Khalon Clayton (Kilgore) had the RBIs. Clayton capped off the scoring with an RBI triple.

Young led the Blue team with two hits.

Kameron Wheeler (Lindale), Alfredo Rojas (New Summerfield), Matt York (Hallsville), Pacen Edwards (Sulphur Springs), Boogie Krajca (Frankston), Austin Bryan (Beckville), Young and Bower all pitched for the Blue team.

Blake Hubbard (Grace Community), Rees and Morgan all pitched two innings for the Red team. Laprade struck out three batters in 1 1/3 innings. Cooper Hill (Edgewood) pitched 2/3 of an inning, and McCall pitched the ninth.

Quarles and Morgan led the Red team with two hits each.

Rounding out the Red roster were Harmony’s Drew McNeel and Pittsburg’s Ty Jordan. Coaches were Harmony’s Ronnie McNeel, Bishop Gorman’s Brady McCoy and Kilgore’s Eugene Lafitte.

Rounding out the Blue roster were Sulphur Springs’ Kaden Argenbright, Bishop Gorman’s Robert Stroud, Lindale’s Chase Rozell, Lindale’s Theron Brown, Van’s Chase Richardson and Elkhart’s Brady Johnson. Coaches were Lindale’s Rich Sanguinetti, Pine Tree’s Trevor Peterson, Frankston’s Sebastian Stargll and Lindale’s Justin Mason.
