CARTHAGE — Blake Bogenschutz threw for 271 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Carthage Bulldogs rounded out their regular season finale on a high note, topping the Spring Hill Panthers 37-14 on Friday at Bulldog Stadium.
Finishing the regular season 7-3 overall and 4-1 in district play, the Bulldogs will enter the playoffs as District 16-3A’s No. 2 seed in the Class 3A Division II Region II bracket next Thursday night against the Liberty-Eylau Leopards at Lobo Stadium in Longview. The Panthers finished their 2011 season 2-8, 1-4 in 16-3A.
Tasker Shannon returned the opening kickoff 65 yards and had four catches for 124 yards, including a 78-yard touchdown from Bogenschutz. Tevin Pipkin rushed for 117 yards in the first half and had a touchdown run of 1 yard for the Bulldogs.
For Spring Hill, Jake Ferrill had a pair of interceptions, one of which he returned 98 yards for a touchdown to get the Panthers on the board in the second quarter.
