HALLSVILLE - Hunter Moore passed for 236 yards and two touchdowns and added a pair of rushing scores, leading the Canton Eagles to a 34-27 win over the Gladewater Bears on Thursday in a Class 4A bi-district playoff game at Bobcat Stadium.
Gladewater ends its season with a 5-6 record. Canton improves to 6-5 and moves on to face either Lorena or Cleveland Tarkington next week in the area playoffs.
Logan Nace caught five passes for 103 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles. Zach Brown added four catches for 90 yards.
Justice Centers carried 21 times for 153 yards and three touchdowns for Gladewater. Marcello Jackson added 137 yards on 16 carries.
Gladewater got on the board first when Centers crashed in from four yards out to cap a nine-play, 80-yard drive that took 6:36 off the game clock.
The Bears added to the lead on a 24-yard interception return by Adam Kegarise, and led 13-0 after the missed extra point.
The Eagles tied the score in the second quarter with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Moore to Tre Fitzgerald and a 35-yard scoring toss from Moore to Nace.
Gladewater marched 70 yards to open the scoring in the second half, using a 1-yard TD run by Centers to build a 19-13 lead after the PAT was blocked, but Canton answered with a score in the third and one in the fourth to go in front 27-19. Moore scored on a 36-yard run in the third and a 4-yard run in the fourth.
The Bears tied it again at 27-27 on a 1-yard run by Centers and a 2-point conversion by Blake Guthrie, but the Eagles moved 75 yards to score the game-winner on a 17-yard run from Jordan Jackson.
