CANTON — Canton Eagles jumped out to a 17-point lead, then held on for a 24-21 win over the Quinlan Ford Panthers in a 14-3A matchup Friday.

Canton (5-3, 2-1) grabbed a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on two Eric Walters touchdown passes to Justin Richards and Nick Hobbes.

Kicker Steven Malouf made it 17-0 in the second quarter field goal.

The Panther (2-6, 0-3) climbed back in the game with touchdowns in the second and third quarters to make it 17-14.

Canton put the game away in the fourth quarter on an 85-yard touchdown run by Reese Sumner.
