LINDALE — After suffering an earlier loss on Thursday, the Bullard Panthers bounced back to defeat the host team Lindale Eagles 5-1 in Game 3 of the Robbie Surratt Memorial Baseball Tournament on Thursday at Eagle Field.

Bullard exploded for a big four-run fourth inning to clamp down on the win.

Panthers pitcher Cameron Hallford went the first five innings striking out five, walking one, allowing four hits and one unearned run.

Lindale scored its lone run off an error in the first inning as pitcher Matt Boeh came home on a fielder’s choice.

Bullard came right back in the second. Britt Thomas’ sacrifice fly plated Duplechin, who reached on an error, stole second and moved to third on groundout.

The big fourth inning for Bullard started with a Cameron Hallford walking. Cody Goode followed with a double. Trevor Rumbelow singled to score Hallford to break the 1-1 tie.

Bullard had runners at the corners when Haden Bryant plastered a ball off the base of the left field fence for a two-RBI double.

Both teams turned the pitching duties over in the sixth inning as Goode came on to mop up for Bullard, while Zane Neeley replaced Boeh. Boeh struck out four, walked two.

Later in the day, Lindale defeated Mount Pleasant 1-0.

Bullard plays Mount Pleasant on Friday at 3 p.m. in the Bullard’s final pool play game.

Bracket play resumes on Saturday at Eagle Field, with the first of four scheduled games slated to begin at 9 a.m.

Rusk 6, Sunnyvale 5

LINDALE — The Rusk Eagles rallied from five runs down to score a 6-5 win over Sunnyvale in the fifth game of the Robbie Surratt Memorial Baseball Tournament on Thursday.

A great throw from center fielder Dillon Hines mowed down the potential tying run at the plate to end the game and preserve the win.

Sunnyvale took an early 1-0 lead as Will Moss doubled and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Zac Metzger. The Raiders went up 5-0 in the fifth.

The Eagles tied the game with five runs in the bottom of the fifth. Drew Walley doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Michael Pyle. Rusk kept pressuring Sunnyvale as Austin Ballew had an RBI single, followed by Brandon Hamilton (hit by pitch) and Josh Raibon (error) reaching base.

Vijay Stingley’s double brought in two runs. The Eagles tied with a double-steal, forcing the runner at third but scoring Chastain Bennett, who was pinch-running for Raibon.

Rusk too the 6-5 lead as Hamilton drew a two-out walk. Chastain Bennett was brought in to pinch-run. Bennett stole second with Raibon at the plate and moved up on a passed ball on the fourth ball to Raibon. Stingley came back to the plate for Rusk with the runners on the corners, Rusk executed the delayed double-steal again and Bennett gave the Eagles the 6-5 lead.
