BULLARD - Brook Hill could not overcome the loss of star quarterback Hood Taylor in the first quarter as the Guard suffered their first defeat of the season, a 14-7 decision to Carrollton Prince of Peace on Friday on Young Field at Herrington Stadium.

Brook Hill falls to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in TAPPS Division II, District 2. The Eagles improve to 4-1 and 1-1.

Taylor suffered an injury in the first quarter and did not return for the Bullard school.

The Eagles took a 7-0 lead on a 49-yard intereception return by Dawson Madlena in the first quarter. Josh Thatcher booted the PAT.

In the third quarter, Brook Hill tied the game at 7-7 when Parker Galbraith hauled in a 17-yard TD pass from Kelly Mason. Caleb Collins kicked the extra point.

Prince of Peace scored the final TD on a 10-yard dash by Parker Strong with about nine minutes to play. Thatcher’s extra point brought the final score to 14-7.

Brooks Parham led the Guard with 51 yards on 14 carries.

The Eagles play host to Dallas Christian next Friday, while Brook Hill meets Bishop Gorman at McCallum Stadium in Tyler.
