ADDISON — Michael Greening singled home Matthew Brooks in the top of the ninth to lift Bullard Brook Hill to a season-opening 3-2 win over Trinity Christian-Addison on Friday in the school’s baseball season opener.

The Guard (1-0), defending TAPPS 3A state champs, held an 8-3 advantage in hits over the Trojans (1-1), 2010 TAPPS 5A semifinalists.

A.J. Minter went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a triple for Brook Hill. Starting on the mound, Minter struck out seven and allowed two runs — one earned — on one hit in 4 1-3 innings on the mound.

Drew Robertson (1-0) mowed down six batters in 3 2-3 innings of relief to earn the win. JB Moss (1) added two more strikeouts in the ninth for the save, upping Brook Hill’s total to 15 Ks while issuing two walks in the nine-inning game.

Moss, who along with Minter is committed to play baseball at Texas A&M, added two hits. Brooks, who batted eighth, scored two runs.
