Collin Berry scored two goals and Robert E. Lee secured another District 11-6A victory Friday by taking down Garland Sachse 2-0 in a soccer match played at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.
The Red Raiders (12-3-1) have won seven in a row in district to now sit at 7-1 with 19 points, just two behind first place North Garland in the league standings.
Berry did his damage near the end of both halves. Berry scored the game’s first goal with three minutes remaining until halftime off a pass from Omar Betancourt.
Lee keeper Daniel Abarca kept Sachse off the scoreboard in the second half with two goal-denying saves with Sachse also hitting a ball off the crossbar.
It was still a one-goal game until Berry struck again for the Red Raiders with again three minutes left. This time the pass was from Eric Munoz and Berry made sure the Red Raiders’ win streak continues.
“We are happy with winning, but we are also a little disgruntled because we should be playing better,” Lee coach Marty Germany said. “But we’re on a roll now. That’s for sure.”
