Canton 80, Cooper 19

CANTON — Olivia Norrell hit for 19 points and Shameir Quimby added 15 as the No. 7-ranked Canton Eaglettes scored an 80-19 victory over Cooper Tuesday night in a girls basketball opener.

The Eaglettes (1-0) broke out to a 17-8 first quarter and cruised from there.

Others in double figures scoring for Canton were Ashley Riffe (11), Amari Welch (10) and Kayden Prox (10). Also scoring were Brianisha Rolling (6), Madison Baugh (5) and Ashtyn Norrell (4).

Canton plays host to Daingerfield at noon Saturday.

Cooper plays in the Bells Tournament, which begins on Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs will face Sulphur Springs at 5 p.m.

Winnsboro 83, John Tyler 27

WINNSBORO — The John Tyler Lady Lions dropped an 83-27 decision to Winnsboro on Tuesday in a girls basketball game.

The Lady Lions (0-2) are scheduled to host Longview at 6:15 p.m. Friday. JT lost its opening game 64-49 to West Mesquite on Friday.

Winnsboro (2-0) next plays in the Grand Saline Tournament, which is scheduled to begin Thursday.

Brook Hill 63, Winona 29

BULLARD — Kailyn Jasper hit for 23 points and freshman Nicole Tng added 18 as the Brook Hill Lady Guard scored an 63-29 win over Winona on Tuesday in a girls basketball game.

Randi Hanson and Kalibria Erwin led Winona with 8 points each.

The Lady Guard hosts Terrell Poetry Community Christian School on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

Tyler HEAT 47, Gladewater 44, OT

GLADEWATER — Ryan Kirksey scored 30 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead the Tyler HEAT to a 47-44 overtime victory over the Gladewater Lady Bears on Tuesday in a girls basketball game.

Kirksey was 14 of 23 from the field as the HEAT improve to 1-1.

The Lady Bears outscored the HEAT, 12-6, in the fourth quarter to knot the game at 41-41 and force OT. In the extra period, the Tyler squad outscored GW, 6-3.

Kirksey scored all six points in the OT period.

Also scoring the HEAT were Tanner Stovall (4), Emily Gonzalez (3), Bonnie Taylor (2), LoriAnn Tiemann (2), Whitney Worley (2), Alora Reed (2) and Abigail Drewett (2).

Annie Oliver and Victoria Perry led the Lady Bears with 12 points each.

Chapel Hill 41, Lindale 38

NEW CHAPEL HILL — The Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-0 on the season with a 41-38 win over Lindale on Tuesday in a girls basketball game at CHHS.

Chapel Hill trailed 34-21 entering the fourth quarter but the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Eagles, 20-4, in the fourth quarter to earn the in.

The Bulldgos used a balanced scoring attack with Ty'Liyah Moore leading the way with eight points. Others scoring for the Blue & Gold were Jenea Travier (7), Brittley Maddox (7), Kya Cook (6), Kylei Griffin (6), Tally Overshown (3), D.J. Kincade (3) and Shelbee Denson (1).

Kayla Pierce led the Lady Eagles with 11 points. Also scoring for Lindale were Ashley Farmer (6), Brenly Philen (6), Shelbie 

Steen (5), Brooke Everest (4), Shailan Davis (3), Sophia Rai (2) and Lily Chamberlain (1).

Chapel Hill will compete in the Eddie Rogers Memorial Tournament in Grand Saline this weekend. The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to play at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Lindale is slated to host Van at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Frankston 55, Troup 25

FRANKSTON — Keryonna Eldridge scored 10 points to lead Frankston to a 55-25 win over Troup.

Kenzie Sexton had 8 points as part of a balanced scoring attack for Frankston. Abbie Ramsey and Tia Billingsly scored 7 points each, and Brianna Looney and Teallie Tatum added 6 points each.

Maddy Griffin led Troup with 10 points, and Ajayia Hampton scored 7 points.

Brownsboro 50, Edgewood 41

BROWNSBORO — The No. 21 Brownsboro Bearettes defeated Edgewood 50-41 on Tuesday a non-district girls basketball game.

Brownsboro (1-1) was paced by Paris Miller's 24 points. She was 4 of 7 from 3-point land.

Kentoya Woods added 10 points for the Bearettes with Mekhayia Moore scoring seven points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Brownsboro took 26-12 halftime lead.

Others scoring for the Bearettes were Shakayla Warren (3), Alexis Rumbo (2), Alexa Soong (2) and Allie Cooper (2).

Brownsboro was 11 of 15 from the free throw line, while the Lady Bulldogs were 19 of 32.

Brownsboro (1-1) plays Harmony at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the first round of Grand Saline's Eddie Rogers Memorial Tournament.

Edgewood (0-1) returns to play on Saturday in a noon game at Mount Pleasant.
