The Arp Tigers defeated Lone Oak, 32-6, on Friday night at Van Memorial Stadium in a Class 3A Division II area playoff game.
The Tigers scored three fourth quarter touchdowns, including two runs from 12 and 6 yards and a 55-yard interception return by senior Tommy Reese.
Kayce Medlock led the Tigers' offense, running for 109 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
The Tigers struck first after taking over on their own 13-yard line following an incomplete pass on a fake field goal. The nine-play drive ended with a 23-yard touchdown run from Medlock. Medlock took the toss to the right side and quickly turned the corner, finding the end zone with 1:45 left in the opening period.
The Buffaloes responded on their next drive, going 49 yards on five plays. Quarterback Jake Williams ran the option keeper in from 6 yards out to make it 6-6 with six seconds remaining in the first. Williams finished with 119 yards on the ground on 18 attempts.
The Tigers answered on their next possession, connecting on a 26-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Stewart to Reese. Reese was able to get behind two defenders on the deep fade route down the right sideline and catch the ball in the end zone. Isaiah Baker added the conversion on a reverse handoff to make it 14-6 early in the second quarter.
Following a scoreless third quarter, which included a goal-line stand on the first Lone Oak drive of the second half, Arp capitalized on solid defensive play to preserve its lead throughout the fourth.
Isaiah Baker scored on a 12-yard run with 9:51 to play in the fourth to give the Tigers a 20-6 lead.
Tray Baker scored from 6 yards out on a sweep play to the left side to make it 26-6. Baker had intercepted the ball on the previous Lone Oak drive to set the Tigers up with a short field at the Buffaloes' 20.
The Tigers defense collected four turnovers, including a fumble recovery on the first play from scrimmage and an interception at the goal line midway through the second quarter.
Reese read the fake handoff and stepped in front of the intended receiver to snag the pass. Reese finished with two interceptions and Baker had one.
Arp improved to 8-5 and will face either Waskom or Gunter in the next round. Lone Oak finished its season at 5-7.
