All Saints junior Aston Francis went 2 for 3 at the plate and Parker Towns struck out 11 as the Trojans handed Grace Community its first district loss in 2-0 shutout Thursday at Cougar Field on the Grace Community campus.

Francis belted a two-out hit that bounced and stuck in the fence for a ground-rule two-bagger in the third inning. He later scored the first run, crossing home on a fielder’s choice by Michael Caruso.

The Trojans made it 2-0 in the fourth when first baseman Trey Rowe launched a solo home run.

Grace pitcher Mason Aldredge had a good outing in the loss with nine strikeouts, one walk and four hits. Charlie Short had the other hit for All Saints with a first inning single.

Towns scattered out three hits in the complete game with one walk.

“Parker pitched a great game,” All Saints coach Jerry Courtney said. “He was hitting his spots, and working the hitters forward and backward.

“Jack (Hamm) is a first year catcher that has done a good job all year. He has really improved over the year and he had a lot to do with Parker’s success today.”

Grace got a double from Jonny Spitzer in the first inning and singles from Call Florence and Adam Graham.

The Cougars (11-1) will entertain Parish Episcopal in a make-up game on Monday, at 6 p.m. All Saints 20-5 (11-2), will play host to Dallas Parish Episcopal on Tuesday, at 6 p.m.
