With a rowdy crowd at Brookshire Gym, the Lady Trojans wanted to make sure they returned for another match.

By giving Waco Reicher its first TAPPS 2-4A loss Thursday, All Saints has a chance to do just that.

The Lady Trojans, who won the thriller 27-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-23, ensured a tie for second place with Dallas Parish Episcopal. The two schools will square off on Tuesday for the right to host a first-round playoff match.

“It was huge; it’s probably the most critical, crucial win we’ve had of the season,” Lady Trojans coach Cristy O’Bannon said. “(We) came out tonight knowing that we could get kids in our gym, it was Senior Night, we’d already be playing with a lot of emotion. We really just focused on turning that emotion onto the court in order to help us play well.”

Katrina Kastmo led the way with 30 kills, nine digs and three blocks for All Saints (21-10, 11-3) with Maddie Smith supplying 48 assists and 10 digs. Lanna Johnson added nine kills and 13 digs while Kaitlyn Huskey had six kills, nine digs and two aces.

“I think it was just a collaborative effort,” O’Bannon said. “The team did what they needed to do.”

The Lady Cougars (27-7, 13-1) were led by the sisters Lancaster, Kaila (14 kills, 10 assists) and Klemi (six kills, 14 assists). Libero Hayleah Castilleja led Reicher defensively.

All Saints, which lost 3-2 in Waco in September, didn’t trail in Thursday until Reicher’s 23-22 advantage. Huskey, one of two seniors along with Jasmine Owens, slammed down two kills to help secure the win.

The Lady Trojans fell off the pace down the stretch of Game 2 to drop their lone game of the match.

In Game 3, All Saints trailed 20-15 before reeling off nine straight points with Kastmo serving. A communication error at 24-20 allowed Reicher back in the game, rallying to tie it at 24. Johnson, however, followed a Lady Cougar hitting error with a kill to give the Lady Trojans a 2-1 advantage.

All Saints, and Kastmo, wasn’t going to be denied in Game 4. Kastmo racked up 12 kills as the Lady Trojans closed out the victory.
