HARLETON - Harleton's quarterback Ted Fuller scored two rushing touchdowns in the second half to lead the Harleton Wildcats to the District 9-2A Division I championship with a 22-14 victory over the Union Grove Lions on Friday.
Due to the rain, both teams kept the ball on the ground. Thirty-four of Union Grove's 61 plays were rushes and 42 of Harleton's 51 were on the ground. The Lions' quarterback Austin Owens led the team in rushing with 25 carries for 50 yards. The Wildcats' quarterback Ted Fuller led the team with 147 yards on 30 carries. Fuller scored on a 5-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. With 1:23 left in the game, Fuller scored on a 17-yard run and converted a 2-point conversion to put Harleton up for good.
Both teams will compete in the state playoffs next week. Matchups are to be determined.
