The Grace Cougars showed up with a high-powered offense Friday downing Waskom 52-20 in a non-district game at Clyde-Perkins Stadium.
Quarterback Braydon Stone threw for three TDs and rushed for another while running back Uchenna Uduma rushed for three scores and caught a TD pass to help the Cougars improve to 2-1.
Grace jumped out to a 7-0 lead with 6:42 in the first on a 2-yard TD run by Uduma and a Andrew Carrasco PAT.
With time expiring in the quarter Stone scored on a 46-yard scamper. A missed PAT made it 13-0.
The Cougars found the end zone again with 7:56 remaining the in the second when Stone connect with Uduma on a 39-yard TD pass and a 19-0 lead.
Waskom (1-2) put up the final two TDs before half on a 1-yard run by Ty Carter and an 18-yard pass from Carter to K.T. Caesar. Missed PATs made the score 19-12 after two.
Grace immediately opened the scoring after the half when Tauscher took the opening kickoff to the Waskom 7 and Uduma scored on a 5-yard run two players later for a 25-12 lead.
Waskom came back to make it 25-20 on a 2-yard TD run by Nate Irving and 2-point conversion by Carter.
The Cougars followed that with another touchdown on a 39-yard pass from Stone to Parker Ary. A missed two-point conversion made it 31-20.
Grace score again with just 15 seconds left in the third on a 25-yard pass from Stone to Brady Newman. Stone hit Newman on a two-point conversion for a 39-so lead after three.
The Cougars finished the game with two fourth-quarter TDs by Uduma, one on a 4-yard carry and the other on a 34-yard run.
