TATUM - Darnell McKnight scored three times, Gladewater jumped out to a huge lead and the Bears rolled to a 51-12 win over Tatum in the District 6-4A Division II opener for both teams on Friday at Eagle Stadium.

Marcello Jackson scored twice in the first two minutes of the contest to give the Bears (2-4, 1-0) the lead for good.

Darnell McKnight got into the scoring act late in the opening quarter on an 85-yard run, the first of three touchdowns for McKnight on the evening.

Tavian Ray rambled 60 yards to get Tatum on the board early in the second quarter, but Jackson sprinted 40 yards for his third touchdown of the game to give the Bears a 30-6 lead.

LeMarcus Harmon scored on a 2-yard run for Tatum with 1:54 left in the third, but Blake Guthrie tossed a 46-yard TD pass to Cameron Calloway to close out the quarter and McKnight scored on runs of 6 and 65 yards in the final period to make the final 51-12.

Gladewater will host Atlanta next Friday.

Tatum (0-6, 0-1) visits Center.
