WHITEHOUSE — The Whitehouse Lady Cats needed triple overtime to open up the District 16-4A slate with a 56-44 win over Jacksonville Friday at Wildcat Arena.

Whitehouse outscored Jacksonville 15-3 in the third overtime to turn what had been a close contest into a double-digit victory.

The Lady Cats began the contest on a 10-0 run to lead 10-2 at the end of the first. The Maidens then slowly and methodically rallied back. Taheena Canady knocked down two free throws with 19 seconds remaining for the fourth tie of the contest, 31-31, sending it to overtime.

In the second overtime, or sixth period, Cati Heredia hit a trey and made a free throw for Whitehouse with Jacksonville's Damonica Franklin scoring four points of her own to keep the game tied and force a third overtime.

The Lady Cats took over in the seventh period and sparked a 15-3 run for the home team. Five different players were on the scoresheet in the sixth overtime as Ashton Ates, Kelly Keller, Amanda Dimon, Brooke Stewart, and Kaitlyn Anderson shared the offense.
