Bullard 53, Gilmer 32

GILMER — Bridgette Taylor scored 24 points with Lexi Abercrombie chipping in 13 as Bullard defeated Gilmer 53-32 Tuesday in their District 16-3A girls' matchup.

The win gives Bullard a 19-6 overall record and 4-2 in district. The Lady Panthers will host Spring Hill at 7 p.m. Friday.

In the junior varsity game, Bullard topped Gilmer 34-24.

 

Mineola 58, Athens 45

ATHENS — Mineola's pressure defense produced 20 steals in a 58-45 win over Athens on Tuesday.

The Lady Jackets broke open the contest by outscoring Athens 21-11 in the second quarter.

Kelsey Green led Mineola with 19 points and four steals with Jordan Dawson (11 points, nine rebounds) finishing one rebound shy of a double-double. Sister Green also reached double figures with 16 points and was 2 for 4 from 3-point range.

The win evens Mineola's overall record at 12-12 and pushes the Lady Jackets to 2-2 in District 15-3A.

QUITMAN — Kelsey Daniel drained a game-tying 3-pointer with 17 seconds to play with Lone Oak's Hannah Nichol answering with a game-winning free throw in a 50-49 Lone Oak victory Tuesday in their 14-2A clash at Quitman High School.

The loss spoiled a double-double effort from Quitman's Tori Houck, who finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
