KILGORE — Victoria became the first road team to come away from Driller Park victorious, hammering the East Texas Pump Jacks 12-5 on Fireworks Friday.

Jacob Hubert and Romeo Cortina combined for seven RBIs as Victoria lit up the scoreboard with clutch base running (six stolen bases, two sacrifice flies) and timely hitting (four extra-base hits).

The Generals (6-2) prevented the Pump Jacks (4-3) from moving into second place in the Texas Collegiate League first-half standings. The Pump Jacks saw a four-game winning streak end, losing for the first time on a four-game homestand.

After taking a 6-1 lead into the seventh, the Generals doubled their output, shuffling through three pitchers during a six-run inning. Cortina (2 for 3, 3 RBIs) capped a big night with an RBI single, and Brett Hoffman added a two-run single before Hubert (2 for 4, 4 RBIs) cleared the bases with a three-run double.

Toller Boardman pitched six complete innings, striking out eight and allowing two hits and one run for Victoria.

Offensive leaders for the Pump Jacks included Kilgore native and Stephen F. Austin freshman outfielder Matthew Dickey (2 for 3, two runs) and University of Texas junior infielder and Giddings product Ty Marlow (2 for 4, RBI, run).
