DIANA -Trent Easley totaled 545 yards of total offense and threw for five TD passes as the Grand Saline Indians scored a 47-28 victory over the New Diana Eagles on Friday in a non-district football game at Eagle Stadium.
The Indians improve to 2-0, while the Eagles fall to 0-2.
Easley hit on 21 of 33 passing attempts for 425 yards and five touchdowns. He added 120 yards on the ground on 22 attempts.
His favorite target was Judsen Truett who had 10 catches for 232 yards and three touchdowns.
Chris Wilson added four catches for 67 yards and a TD, while Connor Lowe had four receptions for 43 yards. Easley’s other TD pass was to Jordan Smith, who had two catches for 44 yards. Carlos Aguilar scored a rushing TD for the Indians as he carried the ball 10 times for 43 yards.
Defensively, Wesley Harrison had 11 tackles for GS, while Luis Guajardo had 10. Montana Martin and Smith had seven tackles apiece.
Grand Saline picked off three passes - one each by Zachary Evans, Smith and Dustin Harris. Smith also had a fumble recovery. Ryan Alcalan and Jake Morrison each had sacks.
The Indians take on Winona in Grand Saline on Friday. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. New Diana plays host to Union Grove the same night.
