BROWNSBORO — Brownsboro’s offense opened the season sputtering as the Bears dropped their season opener 27-14 to the Crandall Pirates Friday.

Shutout through three quarters, Brownsboro finally found the end zone twice in the fourth on a 6-yard TD run by Damien Thompson with 6:01 left and a 15-yard scoring pass from Jared Bragdon to Chris Davis as time ran out.

The Bears only had 216 yards of offense, including 120 rushing. Thompson was the leading rusher with 57 yards on 13 carries.

Bragdon finished the game completing 8 or 15 passes for 96 yards.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Pirates took a 7-0 lead into the half on an 18-yard run by Garrett Spradling.

Crandall scored twice in the third quarter on touchdown runs of 13 and 15 yards by Austin Gilcrease to lead 20-0

Gilcrease scored again in the fourth on a 6-yard run.
