MARSHALL — The UT Tyler volleyball team swept American Southwest Conference divisional rival East Texas Baptist on Tuesday night, marking another first for the Patriots. The win comes on top of last Friday’s stomping of LeTourneau, which sealed up a spot in the ASC tournament for the Patriots.

Tuesday’s 25-23, 25-14, 25-10 win at Ornelas Gym was the Patriots’ first-ever sweep of ETBU and spoiled the Lady Tigers’ Senior Night, snapping their four-game win streak. The win improved UT Tyler to 17-9 on the season and 10-5 in the ASC. It also tied the UT Tyler mark for most wins in a season at 17, which came in the program’s inaugural season in 2004.

Leading the Patriots were Danika Waldrep, Stacey Wilson, Emily Wood, Madison Kosir, Ashten Waldrep and Kayte Stein.

UT Tyler now returns home to wrap up the regular season with a three-game home stand beginning at 7 p.m. Friday with Centenary at the Herrington Patriot Center. On Saturday, the Patriots will celebrate Senior Day during their 2 p.m. matchup with Mississippi College. The Patriots play host to UT?Dallas at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
