Coastal Bend College rallied early and late to score a 10-6 win over No. 2 Tyler Junior College on a rainy Wednesday in the Region XIV Conference baseball opener for both teams at Mike Carter Field.

The Cougars fell behind 3-0 and 4-3 before plating seven runs in the final four innings.

The two clubs are scheduled to play a doubleheader beginning at noon Thursday.

Kody Kolb led the Cougars (19-25, 1-0) with three hits and three runs scored with Kyler Bumstead, Bo Gonzales and Kyle McMahan each driving in two runs.

Coastal Bend had 11 hits, 10 of which were singles. Ronnie Bailey Jr. had the only extra base hit with a double. Bumstead, Kyle McShaffry and McMahan each had two singles.

On the other hand the Apaches had six extra base hits, including a two-run homer and a double from Bullard freshman Jacob Johnson.

Erik Owen, Jacoby Bogue, Jason Bellew and Cade Watson added two-baggers for the Apaches.

Jaren Burks had three singles for TJC with Bogue also adding a basehit with his double. Ty Meissner and Heath Hood also had singles.

Along with Johnson's two RBIs, Meissner knocked in two runs with Hood adding an RBI. Bogue, Burks and Johnson each scored two runs.
