Fapou Semebene’s free throw with 5.1 seconds left in overtime led No. 5 Northwest Florida State to a 68-67 win over No. 10 Tyler Junior College in the Holiday Inn Classic at Wagstaff Gymnasium.
The score was tied at 59 after regulation. Frankazia Boyd’s 3-pointer helped send the game into overtime.
After Rayven Peeples had put Northwest Florida State ahead late in overtime, Te’Aire Hambrick hit a layup to tie the score with 31 seconds left.
Chanaya Pinto had 22 points to lead Northwest Florida State. Semebene had 17 points.
Felmas Koranga led TJC with 18 points. Hambrick hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points.
TJC will take on Collin County at 4 p.m. Saturday.
