FORT WORTH - Aldo Montoya tossed a complete game, allowing four hits in a shutout effort to Texas College to a 2-0 win over Texas Wesleyan Friday at LaGrave Field.

With Montoya leading the way, TC notched a second straight win over a Red River Athletic Conference heavyweight, following up last week's victory over sixth-ranked LSU-Shreveport.

The Steers scored twice in the third, using an RBI, infield single from Tristen Neal and Kasey Vogel's suicide squeeze.

Montoya, a junior right-hander from Los Angeles, threw only 97 pitches on the day, and faced only 10 hitters over the first three innings.

Montoya worked his way out of a jam in the ninth after Taylor Jockers led off with a double. Two walks, one intentional, later loaded the bases with one out. Motonya then induced a fly out to shallow centerfield and a lineout to shortstop to close out the victory.

The Steers improved to 12-15-1 overall and 5-6-1 in the RRAC. The Steers have a chance to pull even against Texas Wesleyan (22-8, 8-4) in the loss column with today's doubleheader, set to start at noon.

STEER SCOOP: The Texas College softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at Bacone, 4-2 and 12-4, on on Friday. The Lady Steers (0-19, 0-11 in RRAC) finish off the three-game series with Bacone (11-14, 6-2) with a single game at noon today in Muskogee, Okla.
