Bullpen helps Apaches beat Steers, 6-5

The Tyler Junior College bullpen held Texas College scoreless over the final six innings of a 6-5 win on Wednesday at Mike Carter Field.

Kyle Sargent, Payton Smith, Nick Johnson and Zach Aitken combined for 6 2-3 innings of scoreless relief for the Apaches (13-2), with Smith earning the win and Aitken a save.

The Steers (3-10-1) scored five in the third to take a 5-4 lead. Jared Seal led TC with two hits and three RBIs. Jose Serna added two hits. Both hit a double.

Hunter Sutton, Estevan Hernandez and Tyler Ernest all had two hits for TJC, which scored two in the first, second and fifth innings. Hunter Rekieta scored twice for the Apaches, who return to action Saturday in a double header against Carl Albert State College at Lindale High School.
