Apaches score 24 in sweep of Weatherford

Tyler Junior College totaled 22 hits and used strong efforts from its bullpen to win both ends of a doubleheader against Weatherford College on Saturday at Mike Carter Field.  

The Apaches won the first game 13-5 and followed up with an 11-4 victory in the second game. TJC recorded 11 hits in both games to improve to 10-1. 

Six Apaches had two RBIs in the first game: Tyler Ernest (1 for 3, two runs), Nico Moran (1 for 2, two runs), Jon McManemin (1 for 3, run), Hunter Sutton (2 for 3, two runs), Estevan Hernandez (2 for 4, run) and Ron Reemts (1 for 2, two runs). 

Eythan Lenz notched the victory after entering the game in the fourth and allowing three runs. 

Nick Moran went 3 for 6 with 4 RBIs to lead the Apaches in the second game. Trevor Clifton went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. 

Cody Ellerbee threw five complete innings, allowing five hits against fie strikeouts and four runs to pick up the win.

TJC’s bullpen of Blaine Hashagen, Jackie Black and Zach Aitken shut out Weatherford over the final four innings, allowing zero hits in the process.
