JACKSONVILLE — Taryn Pardoe and Cayla Cortez each scored two goals to lead the No. 2 Tyler Junior College women’s soccer team to an 8-1 win over Lon Morris on Tuesday afternoon.

The score was 4-1 at halftime after Jahmela Williams, Cortez, April Goodman and Alice Coyne scored for TJC (7-0). Pardoe added the first and third goals of the second half. Cortez made it 6-1 and Kaitlin Martindale tacked on goal No. 8.

Kilgore graduate Kandace Shackelford played the entire match at goalkeeper for TJC, which allowed two shots on goal.

The Apache Ladies return home to play Richland at 4 p.m. Sunday.

TJC Men 5, Lon Morris 0

JACKSONVILLE — Sammi Hosseni scored two goals to lead the Tyler Junior College men’s soccer team past Lon Morris, 5-0, on Tuesday.

The Apaches (4-1-1) also got goals from Ashley Reece, Sammy Deing and Anis Abdulgasem, plus assists from Wayne Hall and Daniel Werken.

TJC (4-1-1) plays host to San Jacinto at 7 p.m. Friday. The Apaches then face Coastal Bend at 1 p.m. Saturday from Pat Hartley Field.
