HENDERSON — Benny Colbert threw for two touchdowns to tight end Jarod Wood and ran for another score in leading No. 3 Kilgore to a 63-10 victory in its rivalry game against Henderson on Friday night at Lion Stadium.

The win was Kilgore's eighth of the season and sets up a showdown next week in the regular-season finale against top-ranked Gilmer at R.E. St.

John Memorial Stadium. Henderson drops to 3-6, but remains alive for one of the four district playoff berths.

Colbert was 4 of 7 passing for 122 yards. His scoring completions to Wood covered 17 and 55 yards.

JuJu Brown led Kilgore's rushing attack which rolled up 384 yards with 135. He scored twice on runs of 15 and 50 yards. Kevrin Justice also went over the 100-yard barrier rushing for 115 yards with scoring runs of 54 and seven yards.

Reserve running back Jacobie Vidal came in the second half with scoring runs of seven and 57 yards.

Colbert's touchdown, one of seven Kilgore had against the Lions, covered

28 yards.

Kilgore finished with 506 yards of total offense and held Henderson to 172.

The Lions managed only 26 yards rushing on 20 carries against the Ragin' Red defense, which came away with interceptions by Aaron Foy and Kevrin Justice, and a fumble recovery by Stefun Tatum.

Henderson quarterback Zane Boles was 19 of 35 passing for 146 yards and a touchdown to Tre' Hollins. Zedrick Lister was the Lions' leading receiver with four catches for 58 yards.

Henderson took the opening kickoff and with Boles leading the way, completing 7 of 9 passes, moved 68 yards in 10 plays to take a 7-0 lead on a three-yard completion from Boles to Hollins.

The touchdown came with 8:22 remaining in the first quarter. Edgar Sanchez converted the PAT, giving the Lions a 7-0 lead.

Kilgore started slowly, but finally put together a 6-play, 75-yard march to score its initial touchdown on the first play of the second quarter, getting a 17-yard completion from Colbert to Wood. Galvan's extra point knotted the score at 7-all.

A Foy pick of Boles set Kilgore up for its second score, coming on a 55-yard Colbert to Wood completion. Wood made the catch at the 25 and outran the pursuit to the goal line, giving the Bulldogs the lead with their second touchdown in 55 seconds.

Henderson answered with a 10-play, 32-yard drive which stalled at the Kilgore 15. Sanchez booted a 32-yard field goal to pull the Lions back to within four.

Colbert, who was 4 of 7 for 112 yards at intermission, did suffer an interception to Conner Dotson, which stopped the next Kilgore possession.

Kilgore added to its lead, though, on its next possession, going 77 yards in eight plays with Brown scoring on a 15-yard run.

Boles, Henderson's talented junior quarterback, who threw for 403 yards last week against Bullard, suffered two interceptions, one by Foy and the other by Justice.

Henderson managed only one first down in the second half.
