Three District 16-3A teams have advanced to the state quarterfinals and will be in playoff action Friday.

Two will be on the same field.

Chapel Hill (9-4) and second-ranked Kilgore (12-0) meet in the Class 3A Division I state quarterfinals Friday night at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium. The matchup is set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on Earl Campbell Field.

Kilgore will be the visiting team.

It will be the second meeting this season between the teams; Kilgore beat Chapel Hill 41-25 on Oct. 25 en route to the district title. It was the most recent loss for Chapel Hill, which has won four consecutive games.

Gladewater (7-6) will continue its run through the playoffs as the Bears take on No. 1 Argyle (13-0) in the 3A Division II quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Dallas' Kincaide Stadium. The Bears advanced to the fourth round with a 24-17 upset victory against unbeaten Gainesville on Saturday.

Argyle eliminated 2012 state finalist Gilmer 45-38 on Friday to deny 16-3A from advancing all four of its playoff qualifiers to the quarterfinals.

White Oak (12-1) meets Franklin (13-0) in the 2A Division I quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Palestine's Wildcat Stadium. The Roughnecks upset second-ranked Newton 55-36 in the regional round.

Chapel Hill, which claimed the 3A Division I state title two seasons ago and reached the final the year before, has claimed three comfortable playoff wins this year. The Bulldogs eliminated Decatur 55-40 in the regional round Friday in Forney after securing wins against Athens (52-26) and Crandall (38-14).

CH quarterback Andrew Black accounted for five touchdowns (four passing, one rushing and one receiving) and the Bulldogs defense forced six turnovers, including a 90-yard TD interception return by Sammy Guzman. The defensive back had two interceptions on the night.

Earlier Friday in Forney, Kilgore cruised to a 56-21 win against Frisco Lone Star behind three players rushing for more than 100 yards each. The ground game was led by quarterback Benny Colbert, who finished with 205 yards and two touchdowns.

The winner advances to meet either defending state champion Stephenville (12-1) or Lubbock Cooper (11-2) in the state semifinals. The other 3A Division I quarterfinals feature No. 7 Carthage (12-1) vs. West Orange-Stark (11-1) and Gonzales (9-4) vs. La Grange (12-0).
