Coming off a dramatic 3-2 win in bi-district, the Bullard Brook Hill Lady Guard return to action tonight in the TAPPS 3A area playoffs.

Brook Hill hosts Irving The Highlands at 6 p.m.

The Lady Guard (22-4) lost the first two games to Carrollton Christian Academy last Thursday only to rally and win the final three to move on. Sophomore Samantha Anderson led Brook Hill with 16 kills and three blocks.

Brook Hill, which earned the top seed out of TAPPS 4-3A, could see either Amarillo San Jacinto Christian or Flower Mound Coram Deo in the next round, should the team advance today.

The Lady Guard won’t be the only East Texas squad competing in the TAPPS playoffs this weekend.

All Saints takes on Midland Christian at 6 p.m. from Eastland High School in a TAPPS 4A bi-district match. The Lady Trojans beat the Mustangs 3-2 last year in the area playoffs in Tyler. All Saints earned the fifth seed from TAPPS 2-4A while Midland Christian finished fourth in TAPPS 4-1A. TAPPS 2-4A champ (and defending 3A state champ) Carrollton Prince of Peace awaits the winner of that match.

Grace Community won the third seed in TAPPS 2-4A and will play Arlington Grace Prep in the area round, with both teams having received byes through bi-district. The Lady Lions won TAPPS 4-1A. Either Fort Worth Christian or Dallas Parish Episcopal plays the Grace-Grace winner.

Also, East Texas Christian Academy continues its attempt at a return to state with a match at Austin Hill Country Christian at 6 p.m. Friday. The Lady Panthers swept Temple Holy Trinity on Tuesday to move on.

The winner of Friday’s match takes on either Sherman Texoma Christian or DeSoto Canterbury School in the regional round.
