BIG SANDY - Sophomore Khameron Pippins rushed for 272 yards and five touchdowns, and the Big Sandy Wildcats built a big lead early en route to a 70-7 win over Cross Roads on Friday.

The Wildcats (5-1) scored 14 points in the opening quarter and then erupted for 28 in the second stanza before putting things away with a 21-point third quarter.

Pippins got things started for Big Sandy when he bolted 32 yards for a score two minutes into the contest. Isaiah Brown booted the PAT to make it 7-0.

Seth Burk got into the scoring act two minutes later with a 50-yard run, and then he and Pippins traded touchdown runs again - Pippins racing 58 yards and Burk rambling in from 11 yards out.

After Cross Roads got on the board with a 3-yard pass from Taylor McKennie to Luc Hyles following a 52-yard run by Jordan Hooten to set things up, Pippins struck again with scoring jaunts of 42 and 24 yards to make it a 42-7 contest at the break.

Burk, who carried six times for 100 yards, returned the second half’s opening kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown to add to the Big Sandy lead. Nic Kilburn added a 10-yard TD run, and Pippins capped his big night with a 9-yard scoring jaunt in the third following a Carson Minter interception.

Kilburn ended the scoring with a 35-yard touchdown run with 7:12 to play - set up by a fumble recovery by Josh Shipman - to make the final 70-7.

Big Sandy will host Kerens on Friday.
