Tyler’s Bryan Baker was one of two golfers to advance during the Northern Texas PGA’s Bright Realty Texas State Open Qualifying Tournament on Thursday at Hollytree Country Club.

Baker, a former Whitehouse High School and UT Arlington golf standout, carded a 2-under 70 to finish second. Geoffrey Shaw of Edmond, Okla., had a 3-under 69. Only two golfers qualified in the field of 22.

The Bright Realty Texas State Open is Aug. 2-5 at The Lakes at Castle Hills in Lewisville.

Blaine Weiterman of Kilgore just missed qualifying with a 71, while Jared Johnson (72), and Devin Jackson (73).
